At GI, we are aware of the trust you place in us and our responsibility to protect your privacy. As part of our responsibility, we let you know what information we collect when you use the GI products and services, why we collect it and how we use it to improve your experience. The following provides our detailed on how we manage your privacy.
As a visitor, you can access portions of the GI website without having a GI Account (i.e. becoming a registered member). You can also contact us through email, Twitter or Facebook without having a GI Account.
Your GI account: For most activities on GI, like viewing full-length videos, posting comments, blogging, or accessing subscription services, you need a GI Account. We ask for some of your personal information when you create this account, including your email address and a password, which is used to product your account from unauthorised access.
Usage Information: When you use GI, we may record information about your usage of the GI website, such as categories, groups and favourites you subscribe to, which other users you communicate with, the videos you watch, the blogs and forums you access, the frequency and size of data transfers, and information you display about yourself as well as information you click on in GI (including UI elements, settings). If you are logged in, we may associate that information with your GI Account.
Content published to site: Any personal information or video content that you voluntarily disclose online (e.g., video comments, blog posts) should be considered public and may be collected and used by others. If you are a GI content creator, your videos and upload information will be uniquely identified and associated with your account.
Purchase information: When you complete a purchase of any GI products or services, we will retain information about the purchase (e.g. value, time, product) however we will never retain credit card data or other information which could be used to fraudulently make a direct purchase on your behalf.
If you submit personal information to GI, we may use that information to operate, maintain, and improve the features and functionality of GI, and to process any flagging activity or other communication you send to us.
We do not use your email address or other personal information to send commercial or marketing messages without your consent. We may use your email address without further consent for non-marketing or administrative purposes (such as notifying you of major GI changes or for customer service purposes).
Information that is publicly available
When you create a GI Account, some information about your GI Account and your account activity will be provided to other users of GI. This may include the date you opened your GI Account, the date you last logged into your GI Account, your resident country and the number of videos you have watched, blogs you have looked at, the games sites which you subscribe to, and your forum activity.
Your GI Account username, not your email address, is displayed to other users when you engage in certain activities on GI, such as when you upload videos or send messages through GI. Other users can contact you by leaving a message or comment on the site.
Any videos that you submit to GI may be redistributed through the internet and other media channels, and may be viewed by other GI users or the general public.
You may also choose to add personal information which may include your name, gender, profile picture or other details, that will be visible to other users on your blog or forum profile. If you choose to activate certain features of your GI Account, then these features and your activity associated with these features will be displayed to other users and may be aggregated and shared with your friends or other users.
If you have a GI Account, you may update or correct your personal profile information, email preferences and privacy settings at any time by visiting your account profile page. You may also request that we delete all personally identifiable information we store however this may require that your account become inactive and inaccessible.
